Head of Game Studio
The Head of Game Studio is a pivotal role responsible for providing strategic leadership, technical direction, and operational excellence to multiple teams of talented tombola game developers. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the development of tombola's industry leading game studio.
Role Purpose
- To build and lead an industry leading tombola game studio and be the voice for all things games at tombola.
- To build on tombola’s already unique product building capabilities to ensure tombola stays ahead of the curve when it comes to quality and differentiated bingo and arcade games.
- To provide a best-in-class gaming experience for all of tombola’s players in all territories and ensure tombola attracts, develops and retains the best talent in the industry.
Core Responsibilities
Product
- Build and run an industry leading game studio to supply new games, features and promotions for all our players in all territories
- Be the owner of the production roadmap for all bingo and arcade games in all territories
- Be responsible for tombola promotional capabilities in games – working with product management teams to form and deliver a promotional strategy
- Lead the team to supply a best in industry app experience for all our players in all territories
- Share with the team the customer perspective and the changing competitive landscape – drawing from player insights and data as much as possible
Operations
- Support the game studio technical, product and Design leads in areas such as resource allocation, prioritisation, and workflow management
- Translate the group business and technology strategy into an operational plan, sharing business objectives with the team, creating KPIs and providing feedback on specific tasks, events or on-going work
- Drive the removal of barriers and improvement in communication to deliver optimised productivity
- Deliver and operate a stable, reliable and compliant (regulatory and security) high performing product
People
- Together with the game studio leads, take responsibility for building and developing the team
- Own the budgets for headcount, salaries, and L&D for the game studio, planning ahead as much as possible
- Inspire people to understand the role they play within the business and help them understand the context of their contribution to the wider business also making sure you celebrate successes
- Listen to the team, seeking their input and insight. Be an enabler for the team.
Leadership
- Be a key member of the tombola technology leadership team
- Represent and champion the tombola game studio and its product in group management discussions
- Help drive excellent communication between the game studio, in country operations and the rest of the business
- Develop relationships with the other members of the technology leadership team to share best practice and, where appropriate, implement consistent technologies, systems and processes
- Be the expert and first point of contact for all things games at tombola and build relationships across the wider Flutter business

Knowledge & Experience
- Prior experience in leading a multi-disciplined delivery team/function.
- Experience with all aspects of game production. From concept to production and managing performance of the product
- Experience within customer facing technology businesses where data insight into analysing and influencing customer loyalty and behaviour is essential
- Deep understanding of the iGaming sector and relevant commercial experience that incorporates game production and development operations
- Experience with a broad range of technologies would be a huge advantage. Some of the technologies we use are: C#, AWS, JavaScript, TypeScript, Webpack, Pixi / Phaser, LESS/SCSS, NPM, Cordova, Vue
